US Organizations with an International Focus

  1. A Rocha International & A Rocha USA –  arocha.org – “Christians in Conservation” – a science organization comprised of Christians.  A Rocha is 25 yrs old, active  in about 20 countries around the world; in the US, provides hands-on advice on how to set up church and community restoration projects.
  2. Plant With Purposeplantwithpurpose.org“reversing deforestation to create economic opportunity; a holistic approach to sustainable development”.  Plant With Purpose is about 20 years old, with reforestation projects throughout the Caribbean, Latin America, Thailand, and East Africa.  Contact Becky Rosaler for information –becky@plantwithpurpose.org
  3. Eden Vigiledenvigil.org – their mission is “to love Christ and His created through mobilizing and serving those who combine church-planting and creation care among least-reached peoples.”  Eden Vigil is a 4 year old mission-sending agency operating under the auspices of Christar, a well-known and respected faith mission working in many restricted access countries.  US activities are limited to recruiting and training those going overseas.  Lowell Bliss, Director – Lowell@edenvigil.org
  4. ECHO www.echonet.org – mission is“to equip people with resources and skills to reduce hunger and improve the lives of the poor.”  Focus on support for overseas workers and organizations; strong emphasis on appropriate agriculture and technology.

 

National Organizations

  1. Au Sable Instituteausable.org –Au Sable is one of the original creation care organizations, founded in 1979 by Cal DeWitt; they offer college courses for credit to students from (mostly) Christian colleges at campuses in Michigan and Washington (see Pacific Rim Institute).Fred Van Dyke, Director / Dave Mahan, Registrar – mahan@ausable.org

  4. Pacific Rim Institute – pacificriminstitute.org  The Pacific Rim Institute was originally part of the Au Sable Institute, and is just a few years old.  They host Au Sable programs, developing local research & community outreach programs to Whidbey Island and the greater Seattle area.Contact Robert Pelant, Director – robert@pacificriminstitute.org for more information.
