Care of Creation, UK

UK_schoolchildrenIn the UK, Care of Creation is working to build partnerships between schools in the UK and Kenya. As part of these projects, children in the UK raise funds to form tree planting partnerships with schools in Kenya.

These tree planting partnerships use the funds raised in UK to establish tree nurseries and provide training at Kenyan schools. The training required to start the school tree nursery, care for the tree seedlings and eventually plant them at the school and in surrounding areas is provided by Care of Creation, Kenya.

The partnerships are ideal because schools are excellent places to establish tree nurseries in combination with water collection projects. Rain water is collected from the roof of the school, stored and used to water the seedlings and tree care is often made a part of the school’s curriculum.

Partnership projects like these help children both in the UK and Kenya gain a better understanding of the importance of caring for creation. They also serve to give children a better understanding of how the condition of creation directly effects our own living conditions as well as teaching the responsibility of caring for our own communities.
